LEATHER TAKES TO THE STAGE
The stage curtain rises in a theater in the heart of the Grand Palais in Paris.
As the play unfolds, it bears witness to an ancestral know-how, with its origins in far distant times, long before the industrial era. All spotlights are focused on the incredible dexterity, lightness and elegance of the highly skilled “petits mains” of couture designs. The theme of the action is leather work. The artisans in the spotlight are the actors in a show that has long been reserved for behind the scenes.
But what would French luxury be without its little hands! What would it be without the talent of tanners, dressers, parchment makers, saddlers/harness-makers, small leather goods manufacturers, trunk makers, sheath makers, glove-makers, bootmakers, leather embossers or gilders? They create all the excellence of the leather trades because they know so well how to combine tradition and modernity!
